Estonia Facts in a Nutshell

1

Corporate Taxation

As a general rule the tax is 0 % annually on retained profits. If profit is distributed to owners, the tax is 20 %.

E.g. a profit distribution of 10 000 EUR will generate a business tax of 2500 EUR. The tax is:             2500/12 500=20 %.

Note that Estonian resident shareowners do not pay personal income tax on distributed profit.

2

Government

Estonia is a member of NATO and EU. It is republic with a president, multi-party system, free press, prime minister and 100 member parliament.

3

Economy

Estonia is one of the least indebted EU nations. Income inequalities are rather sharp between the poorest and richest.

Housing and  groceries are generally expensive by European standards.

Estonia is a vibrant free market economy that attracts  many start-ups especially in the field  information technology.

Many Estonians work abroad part-time as local wages are too low to support the expensive living costs coupled with recent high inflation
